EXTENDED UNTIL 2018 THE TERMS FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF THE CRITERIA NECESSARY FOR OBTAINING EU ECOLABEL for LUBRICANTS

It has recently issued Decision 2015/877 / EU amending, among other, also the Decision 2011/381 / EU concerning the award of the EU Ecolabel to certain categories of lubricants.
What is it about? What has changed since the decision 2011/381?
This emendment do not change anything in substance as regards the criteria set out by Decision 381; it extendes the validity of what in this set, indeed: companies wishing to obtain dell'EU Ecolabel for their lubricants should refer again to the criteria stated in the annexes.
Article 4 of Decision 381 provides that the criteria set to award  the EU Ecolabel and the related assessment and verification would have a validity of four years from the entry into force of the Decision and, being now expired this period,  the European Commission should start this review process of the above aspects. This new decision has delayed by 4 years the start of this process so  products which have obtained the European Ecolabel under the criteria of the 381, given for granted and confirmed the respect of the above criteria, do not run the risk, for instance,  of having to carry out a new process or even  making changes in the chemical composition to confirm the EU Ecolabel.

Let's remind here these criteria:
a) NON-TOXIC: it must not be harmful to the environment and to humans (criterion 3).

TOSSICITA' ACQUATICA BIODEGRADABILITA' BIOACCUMULO
b) NON BIODEGRADABILE- BIACCUMULATIVO
depending on the type of  biodegradability (immediate or intrinsic)  the substance is expected to biodegrade in the environment (criterion 4)
